I have been told by a lot of people that they're planning to vote a straight ticket in the upcoming election and believe that their choice for president will count.

This is a mistake.

In order for your presidential choice to count you must fill in your choice on the election ballot. Voting a straight ticket counts for your state and district elections only.

Remember to fill in your presidential choice first, and continue your voting process (a straight ticket or voting individual races). Please review your ballot before submission.

Before you go out to vote, find your voting location and remember to bring proper id.
